Economy: China will support Europe in debt trouble

PREMIER Wen Jiabao yesterday offered his country's support for Europe and its common currency amid the eurozone's debt crisis.

Wen said China is a long-term investor in the European sovereign debt market and has purchased a "not small" amount of euro-denominated bonds in the past years.

World Bank: China Economy to grow by 9.3% this year

China GDB Grow by 9,3%

The economy will maintain its high growth levels and the government still has plenty of room to further tighten monetary policy, World Bank economists said on Wednesday.

The economy is predicted to grow by 9.3 percent this year, before slowing to 8.7 percent in 2012 and 8.8 percent in 2013, the World Bank forecast in its twice-yearly report, Global Economic Prospects, released on Wednesday.

China - Usa: Shared interests define China - Us relationship

Chinese President Hu Jintao told US President Barack Obama that his state visit to the United States was aimed at increasing mutual trust, enhancing friendship, deepening cooperation and pushing forward the positive, cooperative and comprehensive China-US relationship for the 21st century.

"I hope that through this visit, our two countries will advance the positive, cooperative and comprehensive relationship and open a new chapter in our cooperation as partners," Hu said at a welcome ceremony on the South Lawn of the White House.

Both countries "share broad common interests and important common responsibilities" and should adopt a long-term perspective and seek common ground while reserving differences, Hu told Obama.

"Our cooperation as partners should be based on mutual respect...on mutual benefit," Hu said.

BRUSSELS - The European Commission plans a significant cut in the punitive tariffs it imposed last year on Chinese-made fiberglass used in the clean technology sector, EU diplomats and people close to the issue told Reuters on Friday.
